Atlanta Smiles Foundation
The Atlanta Smiles Foundation was established in 2006 by Dr. Dina J. Giesler. It is her vision that this Foundation could serve as a template underneath the USASmiles National name to start Private Foundations across America and teach Private Dentists to implement a Foundation within their own practices in their individual cities. This is about private citizens helping other private citizens directly. Imagine….LAsmiles, NewYorksmiles, Chicagosmiles. Atlantasmiles is just the beginning. The beginning of something Big.
The Mission statement:
The Atlanta Smiles Foundation helps survivors of domestic abuse reclaim their self-esteem, their sense of value, and their lives by providing dental and facial reconstruction services, giving them a smile with which to face the world.
Dentistry is an important part of health care. However, so many people cannot afford to seek dental care. Government Agencies are overcrowded and understaffed. Local county and State Clinics are sparse. Dentistry in not covered under Medicare. Dentistry is expensive. Medicaid reimbursements for children have been reduced. The Atlanta Smiles Foundation provides pro-bono dental and cosmetic services along with facial reconstruction to survivors of Domestic Abuse. Dr. Giesler works with other Dentists and Specialists to provide care to those deserving. Dr. Marc Yune, an Atlanta Facial Plastic Surgeon provides pro-bono surgery to the head and neck area for those who have been injured.
The donations pay for the laboratory expenses, necessary supplies and Operating Room expenses that are needed to provide the services free of charge. Administration costs are paid for by Dr. Giesler and other supporting individuals. The Dentists and Physicians volunteer their talents and services. The Doctors do not accept financial donations.
The Foundation is dedicated to restoring the smiles and facial reconstruction of people who are deserving of the pro-bono dental services.
